Cornelius van Baerle。
The late 17th century was the golden age of the Netherlands, as their naval power and economic prosperity made them the main force in the world. Most of the time was supervised by Grand Pensionary (a prime minister) Johan de Witt, who cleverly harnessed the political realities of the time, as a supporter of liberalism and republicanism, against the nobility, especially Orange. William. This period is after the so-called “Tulip Mania” in the Netherlands. This is an economic bubble. The speculation on tulip prices has reached an incredible high point, but it has seriously damaged the economy when the bubble burst. John Devitt ignored the army and relied on the strength of the Dutch navy to protect the country. After the Dutch invasion in 1672, there was almost no effective resistance, and the country was in panic. De Witt and his brother were accused of treason with the French and were sentenced to exile. However, before they fled the country, a group of violent thugs seized both of them and murdered them on the street. This was a shocking violent incident and no investigations or arrests were found. Dumars began to talk about the brutal murder of John and Cornelius Devitt, revealing that John did communicate with the French king, but these letters have been entrusted to his godson Cornelius Van Barre. The mob was incited and assisted by William Orange, and his proposal to restore the Royal Office was opposed by John. Cornelius is rich, a fanatical gardener focused on tulips. He lives next door to Isaac Boxtel, a respected gardener known for his tulip, but he has been awkward about van Baerle, who believes that van Baerle has an unfair wealth advantage. Boxtel has been so fascinated by Cornelius that he neglected his garden and desperately monitored neighboring horticultural activities. When Cornelius sneaked off the Sunshine of Boxtel Garden, Boxtel was almost crazy about anger. The government announced a competition to award 100,000 Dutch guilders to the gardeners, who can produce flawless black tulips (a real plant that requires great skill and time to produce). Cornelius does not care about money, but is excited about the challenge. Boxtel, like his shady garden, knew he had no chance to beat Cornelius now. Boxtel saw evidence that Cornelius had been implicated in de Witt for his espionage and that he was arrested by Cornelius for treason. Cornelius was initially sentenced to death, but William Wilhelm, who was newly installed as Stadhouder after Wit’s death, turned him into life imprisonment. Cornelius managed to save three cuttings from his tulip cuttings, almost sure it would bloom into black tulips. In prison, Cornelius was under the authority of Grievous, and Grievous was a cruel and stingy person. Grievous came to prison with his beautiful daughter Rosa, and she met Cornelius. The two established friendship because Cornelius proposed to teach Rosa to read and write. Cornelius showed the cuttings to Rosa and she agreed to help him grow the award-winning tulips. Boxtel learned that Cornelius had a cutting edge and was determined to steal them and win prizes for himself, while further revenge for Cornelius (he didn’t know Boxtel’s dislike and didn’t know who put him in jail). Assuming a false identity, he began to sneak into the prison, trying to steal the cuttings. Gryphus is convinced that Cornelius is some sort of dark magician and is convinced that he is planning to escape from prison and obsessed with stopping him, which allows Boxtel to complete his plan. Cornelius and Rosa fell in love, and Cornelius entrusted his cuttings to Rosa as a symbol of his love. One of the bulbs was shattered by Gryphus, but they started planting black tulips in prison, even though Rosa once punish Cornelius for loving tulips instead of her. Boxtel managed to steal a mature tulip, Rosa chased him, filed a lawsuit and eventually got help from William Orange, who believed her story, punished Boxtel, and liberated Cornelius from prison. come out. Cornelius won the game and regained his life, married Rosa and founded a family. When Cornelius met Boxtel, he didn’t know him. Cornelius van Baerle. Cornelius is the son of the former big pension John DeWitt, a non-political figure with a strong knowledge and gentle personality. His main goal is to grow tulips, which are just a passion.
