Koala was designated as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). According to the World Conservation Union, approximately 100,000 to 500,000 animals remain in the wild. Although the koala itself has some protection under the law, its population continues to decline mainly due to the loss of habitat. Australia’s proposed Koala Protection Act is designed to help protect the habitat of Koala. The Australian Koala Foundation believes that there are less than 100,000 or even only 43,000 in the wild. There is a koala, but scientists do not agree with the existence of subspecies. The three most common species of Koala are considered to be: Grizzolactos cinereus adustus (North/Queensland), Cscolarctos cinereus cinereus (New South Wales) and Grizzly (Phascolarctos cinereus victor) (Victoria) era). These sub-species are classified based on slightly different physical characteristics such as physical size and fur characteristics. Based on these characteristics, some scientists believe that there are three subspecies, the other two, and others do not.
